Prep My hair

Julia Blank 280913I don’t know any girl who doesn’t like that freshly out of the salon look. There is nothing like divine product smell in your hair that makes it so glossy, smooth and bouncy.  You see, in Asia it’s a common practice not to just wash your hair but also carefully massage your head in the process. How bad can it be?

Living in Singapore I got quite spoilt with weekly blow outs as they are generally inexpensive. The downside of living in Singapore is that your beautiful hair will only last you a day or two due to hot and humid air. At least that’s the case for me.Being in the fashion industry, my clients ask me for recommendations for beauty salons, restaurants, etc., therefore, I am always on the lookout for new places to wash and blow my hair without breaking the bank.I got a free a voucher from PREP, which is located in a very posh shopping mall – Mandarin Gallery. I found this place unique as they only offer 3 categories of blow outs. They range from very simple to more complex ones with luxurious Shu Uemura or Redken products and finishing touches.I also liked the complementary tea and free chocolates that magically appeared in front of me after my hair wash. My 10 year old whom I bribed to come along with me was offered lollipops and candies to keep him happy. There is something about lollipops that makes your kids like the hair salon more than the ones who don’t offer them.

Overall, I liked the location, convenient parking, service and quality of the blow out. And of course the price was not bad either. I will be back.

How to wear all white

All White to Singapore is what All Black is to New York! Living in New York for almost two decades not only shaped my character but definitely added a lot of black to my wardrobe. It was definitely cool to be seen in Bergdorf Goodman in all black, you were one of them. Now living in Singapore wearing black will get you noticed for the wrong reasons. ‘Aren’t you hot in this girl? ‘ is what you might hear from others. One thing for sure is the annoying rule “No white after labor day” will ever apply.
My wardrobe changed drastically since my days in NY. Now it consists of much lighter colors, the ones that breath, sway, inspire. The white being  my favorite.

1. Don’t  be afraid to go all out with white: white clothes and white accessories.

2. Mix fabrics like white chiffon and white lace or  try silk and lace

3. Try peasant style dresses with interesting embroidery work

4.  Don’t forget to always have fun
